Embracing Change
Every moment is now. What is your choice?
Today at a glance :
Staying adaptable, pushing past adversity.
Learning more about ourselves & how we are constantly changing and evolving.
Change can be as little or as big as we make it.
Some quotes for contemplation.
3 minute read time
It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.
Charles Darwin
Quick note: You may have noticed, the last publication didn’t show up on Sunday. That’s because I changed to Tuesday at 9am.
The reason? Testing things out, seeing what sticks, let me know what you think!
You can always expect a weekly post, or two, even if the date changes.
Change is a constant
Change is in every moment passing, whether it’s the time, or a correction in your body posture.
We assign the meaning change carries in our lives, and by nature It’s subjective.
A career change is something that can completely alter the trajectory of your life, but so can deciding to go out to dinner one night, and meeting someone special…
What am I trying to get at?
Life is in constant change, sometimes the change is drastic, sometimes it is completely unnoticeable.
You get to choose your change, and there is something truly beautiful about that.
Awareness is key in change, by living in presence we are able to make changes in our life that compound, and reward us with fulfillment.
As someone who is fueled by curiosity and knowledge, I look forward to change.
I am always asking…
What changes can I make to improve my day-to-day productivity, movement routine, business etc.
Change can be extremely hard at times, by overthinking different angles and creating loops and closing them back in on each other, we can easily get caught up and decide to not take the action needed to get to the next step in our path.
Overthinking is not the problem.
From an evolutionary standpoint, the brain functions to encourage overthinking as a means of problem-solving. Brain chemicals like dopamine, adrenaline, serotonin, and cortisol participate in initiating and sustaining these cyclical loops of thoughts.
This is a space in which we get to exercise our decision skills. Flowing with our intuitive mind and making a decision that feels right. The mind will run wild, and continue to make objections and create fluffy clouds that look nice to lay on.
Change here is potent, and what makes a leader.
This choice of change is mirrored in many self-development practices, because it is key to harness your full potential.
Think meditation, your practicing separation. Separation from the primal instinct of overthinking, thinking about the next thing, and thinking about what your doing now.
The practice of meditation is a practice of change. But change in the form of acceptance, and choosing to learn from that.
A thought may come into your head, and you may run with it for a while. However at at some point you come back to your center and that is the lesson. To always come back to yourself.
Similarly with change, you may make a choice and find that it was the “wrong” thing to do. It’s the same process.
You take ownership of the change, and come back to your center. The key is to learn from your changes, and most importantly learn about yourself, and dissect the process of change that you went through.
When you establish a deeper understanding of yourself, you are able to make changes that benefit your life, and the lives of those around you.
The leadership comes from leading with intentional change for the development of your purpose.
Adaptability is the way of consistency
